Fortnite Nerfs Springleg and Surge Medallions a Week After New Season Update

On Aug. 12, 2025, Fortnite nerfed both the power of Springleg and Surge Medallions after players started to dominate the game because of the movement options both of the medallions provided. While Fortnite’s X post doesn’t go into specifics, another X account has dropped the exact numbers.
According to Fortnite leaker HYPEX, the effects of Springleg Medallion have been nerfed by 27% and its energy cost has been increased by 50%. Surge Medallion also received the same treatment, with its movement boost being nerfed by 8% and its slide boost nerfed by 50%. Here’s the full list of adjustments according to the leaker:
- Wrecker Revolver’s Mid & Long Range Damage NERFED by 4%
- Wrecker Revolver’s Max Range Reduced by 30-50%
- Wrecker Revolver Headshot Damage NERFED by 10
- Shockwave Grenade Spawn Chance NERFED by 33%
- Swarmstrike Launcher Radius NERFED by 15%
- Springleg Medallion Jump NERFED by 27%
- Springleg Medallion Energy Cost INCREASED by 50%
- Surge Medallion Movement Boost NERFED by 8%
- Surge Medallion Slide Boost NERFED by 50%
- Required Rank Points Increased by 10% for Duos, Trios & Squads
One thing that wasn’t included in the list is a buff to Leadspitter 3000. Fortnite’s post mentioned that the developers opted to improve its recoil, making it an easier weapon to use.
Fortnite’s Chapter 6 Season 4 started on August 7 and introduced a few POIs where Queens live. Defeating a Queen will grant the player a unique mythic weapon and a unique medallion determined by where it was staying.
