Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.5 To See Debut of 5-star Characters Hysilens and Cerydra

Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.5 Before Their Deaths is slated for release on Aug. 13, 2025

The game will receive a new mission of the same name as the update, a new area in Styxia called Warbling Shores, two new 5-star characters characters, Hysilens and Cerydra, and two new Light Cones, “Why Does the Ocean Sing” and “Epoch Etched in Golden Blood,” along with three new enemies: Lady of Crashing Waves, Servant of Tides, and Theoros: Lygus.

Besides that the update will bring an Individual Voice Toggle for Collaboration Characters feature which will allow to independently select the licensed original voice for collaboration characters.

On top of that, the Relic Synthesis system will get an optimization in Version 3.5. Wishful Resin will be merged into Self-Modeling Resin. Players will only need to use Self-Modeling Resin to customize both Main Stats and Subsidiary Stats of Relics, with the total amount of Resin consumed remaining unchanged. The sources to synthesize Wishful Resin from Relic Remains will be changed to synthesize Self-Modeling Resin instead. As before, this synthesis can only be done twice per month. The update won’t reset the current month’s synthesis limit, leaving players the option to synthesize only up to 2 Self-Modeling Resins or Wishful Resins in the month of the version update.

Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.5 Before Their Deaths will also bring Smart Equip system optimization for relics, allowing players to select and replace relics in each slot individually in the recommended loadouts without having to exit the Smart Equip system to make adjustments. For each part of the recommended build, selected relics will be marked and prioritized, allowing gamers to generate more personalized Smart Equip plans. When changing relics through the Smart Equip system, a notification text will pop up explaining the changes, such as Main Stat compatibility, Subsidiary Stats improvement, set effect changes, etc.

The game will also see optimization of Light Cone exchange starting with Version 3.5. Exchange for Light Cones at the Light Cone Manifest and Stellar Convergence stores will be limited to the number of Light Cones that can be exchanged at once to prevent accidental over-exchanges. Additionally, Light Cones of different rarities will have different exchange limits per transaction. While 4-star Light Cones will have an exchange limit of 5 copies per transaction, 5-star Light Cones will have an exchange limit of 1 copy per transaction.

The Delete Past Mission Resources feature will become available for PC players following the arrival of Version 3.5, while mobile players will be able to reduce the download size by reinstalling the client, as the system will exclude resources from previously completed missions based on the account’s game progress.

The fourth installment in the Honkai series, Honkai: Star Rail, is a free-to-play gacha title developed and published by Mihoyo/Hoyoverse on April 26, 2023, for Windows PC, iOS and Android platforms. The game was also ported to PlayStation 5 on Oct. 11, 2023.

Honkai: Star Rail features several characters from Honkai Impact 3rd and some gameplay elements from Genshin Impact. The game allows players to assume the role of the character referred to as the Trailblazer, who resolves disasters caused by Stellarons and other third parties while traveling across the universe through the Astral Express to help and connect worlds.
