Off The Grid received a major update on Aug. 7, 2025, announced via a post on the game’s official Steam page.
Since Oct. 8, 2024, the Web3 cyberpunk-themed battle royale shooter has been available in early access on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The update brought to the game a new mode with unlimited respawns, titled Loadout Ladder (aka Gun Game), in which players go head-to-head in fast-paced combat across different arenas throughout Teardrop to rack up kills and climb the gear ladder, earning a loadout with each takedown. The first player to land a kill with the final loadout seals the win.
Besides that, Off The Grid received new delivery drones, and from now on, when calling in custom loadouts, players will have the option to spend a little extra RIP to bring in some serious backup from delivery mules, either focused on firepower or surveillance.
Also, a new Cyberlimb called Mirror Breakers, filled with cutting-edge holographic tech, from now on allows its owners to deploy a mirror image of themselves straight into the field. Besides drawing the enemy’s attention, this decoy can also trigger traps like mines.
The game’s developer, Gunzilla Games, also brought some changes to the Battle Pass, so each item in the progression system will now unlock at its own specific level, meaning most levels will now grant a reward to claim.
On top of that, players now have the option to customize their OTG Contestant badge in the brand-new Career Page, choosing the profile picture of their liking, updating the badge background and customizing Clan tags. Additionally, the Leaderboard was overhauled and moved to the new Career Page.
Envisioned by Neill Blomkamp, film director and screenwriter behind movies such as 2009’s “District 9,” 2013’s “Elysium,” 2015’s “Chappie” and 2023’s racing drama “Gran Turismo,” Off The Grid is set in a cyberpunk dystopia where cybernetically augmented contestants participate in a televised bloodsport on an isolated island called Teardrop Island, using futuristic military weapons and equipment.
Played from a third-person perspective, Off The Grid features a 60-hour narrative campaign, supported by a sci-fi cinematic series titled Off The Grid Cinema, which consists of two episodes, Switcher and Vincent. On top of that, the Web3 game’s multiplayer offers both PvE and PvP matches with up to 150 competitors.
As of the time of writing, the game has a “Mixed” rating on Steam with 1,139 reviews, along with a 3.9-star rating out of five on the Epic Games Store, and an all-time peak of 12,762 players, according to SteamDB.
