House of the Dead 2: Remake, a horror-themed arcade on-rails shooter, launched globally on August 7, 2025, for Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Developed by MegaPixel Studio and published by Forever Entertainment, the game follows the story of James Taylor and Gary Stewart as they investigate a sudden outbreak in Mall City, an incident eerily reminiscent of the 1998 Curien Mansion case. Determined to uncover the source of the infestation, the agents must shoot their way through hordes of creatures.
According to the title’s Steam page, the revamped version of the game will feature modern graphics, boths remastered music and classic soundtrack, co-op mode, multiple endings, branching levels, and two modes beyond the classic campaign. Boss Mode will be a time-limited challenge, while Training Mode will offer several scenarios to improve the player’s shooting abilities.
The direct sequel to The House of the Dead, original The House of the Dead 2, was a light gun on-rails shooter arcade title developed by Sega for arcades on the Sega Naomi board and released on November 20, 1998. Later, the game was ported to Dreamcast, PC, Wii, and Xbox.
The recommended system requirements for the game include 64-bit Windows 10 as the operating system; either an Intel i7-7700 or an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU; at least 16 GB of RAM; and an Nvidia GTX 1070, GTX 1660 Super, or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 GPU. The system should support DirectX version 11 and have at least 7 GB of available storage space.
