The Finals revealed more details about its first-ever major tournament, which will be hosted in Stockholm on Nov. 28–29, 2025.
The Grand Major will feature the 16 best teams in the world competing for a $100,000 prize pool.
Open qualifiers in North America (NA) and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) will start on Aug. 30, 2025, and Sep. 6, 2025, respectively. The competition will follow a single elimination format with best-of-three matches. The final round will be played in a 3v3 mode. Each region will offer two chances for teams to qualify, with eight teams advancing from each qualifier. In total, sixteen teams from each region will move forward.
As for the closed qualifiers in NA and EMEA, they will feature a hybrid elimination format. The competition will begin with matches played in the Cashout mode, which uses a 3v3v3v3 setup. The final round will transition to a traditional 3v3 mode. Teams that succeed in these qualifiers will earn a spot in The Grand Major, with seven slots available for NA and six for EMEA.
The Asia – Pacific (APAC) Qualifiers will be managed by regional partners Nexon and Tencent to provide localized support. This pathway will have its own structure tailored to the region, meaning formats and seeding may vary. From this region, three teams will earn spots at The Grand Major.
Day 1 of The Grand Major will feature all 16 qualified teams competing in Stockholm. The format will combine both Cashout and Final Round gameplay, testing each team’s consistency, skill, and teamwork across the two modes. Only eight teams will advance to Day 2.
Day 2 of The Grand Major will be the Championship Playoffs, beginning with a Hybrid Elimination round that will narrow the field down to the top four teams. This quartet will enter “THE FINALS,” the ultimate test of consistency and skill. The format will begin with a Cashout match, from which the top two teams will move on to a Best-of-2 Final Round. Each win in the Final Round earns a point. After every Final Round, all four teams return to another Cashout match, continuing the cycle. The first team to reach five points will be crowned The Grand Major Champion.
The free-to-play first-person shooter The Finals was developed and published by Embark Studios on Dec. 7, 2023, for PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
As of the time of writing, the game has a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam with 237,981 reviews and an all-time peak of 242,619 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
