Battlefield 6 Open Beta Queue Surpasses 40,000 People Prior to Day One

The Battlefield 6 open beta server queue has surpassed 40,000 players; the open beta has not even begun, officially starting on Aug. 7 and lasting until Aug. 10. The second phase of the open beta starts on Aug. 14 and goes until Aug. 17. Preloading for the title has begun, contributing to the large number of players overloading the beta server queues. 

The open beta requires PC players to turn on Secure Boot on their BIOs; EA announced this helps combat cheating within the game. Battlefield 6 will use EA’s Javelin Anticheat, built from the ground up by a team of veteran engineers and analysts.

According to a report from IGN, Battlefield 6 will feature skill-based matchmaking, which the media outlet reports as a controversial aspect that “negates the random nature of unranked play.” It is currently unclear how big a role skill-based matchmaking will play in matchmaking. Other factors that affect matchmaking are: ping, player’s location, and server availability.

Early access privileges are granted to all who participated in or signed up for the Battlefield Labs initial playtest, regardless of whether they were invited to the playtest or not. 

Battlefield 6 is currently available for pre-purchase on Steam, priced at $69.99. Battlefield 6 releases on Oct. 10, 2025. Since the release of the first game in the franchise, titled Battlefield 1942, for Windows and macOS (OS X at the time) PCs in 2002, the series has sold approximately 88.7 million units globally.
