Baldur’s Gate 3 Celebrates 2-Year Anniversary and 265M Mod Downloads

Celebrating their two-year anniversary, Baldur’s Gate 3 devs shared multiple funny stats via a post on the game’s Steam page, and Larian Studios’ head, Swen Vincke, congratulated players with a post on X (formerly Twitter), teasing the next game once more.
Since the introduction of mod support in September 2024, players have uploaded over 8,500 mods and reached 265 million mod downloads. Notably, 250,000 of the mod downloads were accounted for by Withers Big Naturals.
Notably, 4,647 players managed to beat Honour Mode using only a Level 1 character, while 31,180 players beat Honour Mode as a Jack of All Trades.
Besides that, 598 players adopted a child with Wyll, while 8.21% of players got creative and used an enemy as an improvised weapon against another.
Only 1.82% of all players managed to earn 100 gold from playing music, and 2.07% of players wobbled their way to victory by defeating 20 opponents while drunk.
As for other obscure achievements, 350 players chose to respec Minsc into a Death Domain Cleric; Karlach was most frequently respecced into an Oath of Vengeance Paladin, while Lae’zel most often became an Oath of the Crown Paladin; Astarion was commonly reimagined as a Hexblade Warlock, and Shadowheart saw nearly equal numbers of respeccs into either the Death Domain or Life Domain Cleric subclasses; Gale was most often turned into a Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer, and Wyll was mostly respecced into a Hexblade Warlock. Talking about numbers, Shadowheart is the most respecced companion with 4,890,005 reimagines, followed by Wyll with 1,417,506, and Gale, who was respecced 684,454 times.
Following almost three years of early access, Baldur’s Gate 3 was released for Windows PC on Aug. 3, 2023; for PlayStation 5 on Sept. 6, 2023; for macOS PC on Sept. 22, 2023; and for Xbox Series X|S on Dec. 7, 2023.
As of the time of writing, Baldur’s Gate 3 has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam with 682,764 reviews and an all-time peak of 875,343 players, according to Steam DB.
Baldur’s Gate 3 received 42 accolades in different categories across multiple industry award ceremonies.
