Octopath Traveler 0 was revealed during the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase on July 31, 2025.
Developed by Square Enix, the game will become available on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on Dec. 4, 2025.
The game will be the fourth installment in the series, following 2018’s Octopath Traveler, 2020’s Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent and 2023’s Octopath Traveler II.
The Octopath Traveler series stands out with its graphical aesthetic known as HD-2D, defined by the developer as combining retro SNES-style character sprites and textures with polygonal environments and high-definition effects. The upcoming installment is created in the same style as its predecessors.
The Octopath Traveler franchise has sold over 3 million copies worldwide across all its releases.
