The game will be the successor to Monster Hunter Stories and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, which are spinoff titles in the Monster Hunter series that feature a drastically different gameplay focus.
In Monster Hunter Stories titles, players assume the role of a Rider who befriends monsters by stealing eggs and hatching them. The player can then name their companion monsters, ride them around and ride them in battles.
According to Capcom, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin exceeded 2 million units sold globally as of June 19, 2024. As for the entry franchise title, it has never been listed among Capcom’s platinum titles, meaning it never reached 1 million copies sold globally.
