Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 Enhances Leaver Penalties and Player Compensations

|
- Marvel Rivals developers created a vlog detailing new changes coming in season 3.5.
- The devs detailed enhanced penalties for players who leave a match during competitive matches.
- The remaining players who stay are given some point compensation at the end of the match.
In the latest developers vlog for Marvel Rivals, NetEase announced harsher penalties for players who leave matches. Scheduled for implementation as a part of the upcoming season 3.5 update, the penalties for leaving a match will now result in a longer ban from competitive play and bigger point deductions, targeted toward mitigating a widespread rage-quitting issue that has been plaguing the game.
“For the remaining players who stay, we’ll now offer some point compensation at the end of the match. Plus, surrender votes will require just one less than the number of remaining teammates,” creative director Guangguang stated in the Dev Vision Vol. 08.
Leaver penalties will be handled on a case-by-case basis, with NetEase promising faster appeal processes for unintended bans. In addition to the news regarding rage quitters, Blade is finally debuting in Marvel Rivals as a duelist. His in-game kit was showcased in the developer’s update, releasing at the beginning of Season 3.5, which is on Aug. 8.
NetEase also implemented an option called “Operation: Shield the Community,” which allows players to utilize a custom text chat filter. This grants the user the ability to mute specific words, with NetEase monitoring the most popular muted words and potentially adding them to an official list.
