- Pokémon TCG Pocket has mentioned that they’re on the way to replace the art of both 3-Star Ho-Oh EX and Lugia EX.
- The developers did not provide a timeline for when the illustration will be replaced.
- The last main set of Pokémon TCG Pocket focused on Eeveelutions.
On July 30, 2025, Pokémon TCG Pocket released an announcement regarding the illustrations of both 3-Star Ho-Oh EX and Lugia EX for the Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion. According to them, there was a problem with the reference material, which looked similar to another artist’s work.
“After internal review, we discovered that the card production team provided incorrect reference materials as official documents to the illustrator commissioned to create these cards. As a result, both cards have been replaced with a temporary placeholder that the team is actively working to replace with new artwork as soon as it’s ready,” the statement said.
The art in question is this Ho-Oh illustration from artist Lanjiujiu.
The developers did not provide a timeline regarding the new art, but they added that they are conducting investigations to make sure that similar issues will not pop up in the future. They ended the statement by thanking their fans.
Pokémon TCG Pocket is a mobile game released on Oct. 30, 2024. The game is developed by Pokémon Company and DeNA. The game’s latest main set was one that focused on Eeveelutions.
