Grounded 2’s All-Time Peak Players Reaches 49K, Beats Prequel’s Record in Less Than a Day

On July 30, 2025, Klobrille, an X user who covers Xbox games, revealed that Grounded 2 had cleared Grounded’s all-time peak player count on Steam just 30 minutes after release. Both titles have been created by Obsidian Entertainment.
The game was first shown in an Xbox game showcase on June 9. The game was shown alongside heavy hitters such as Final Fantasy XVI, The Outer Worlds 2 and High on Life 2. Additionally, the showcase was also the first time that the public was able to see the ROG Xbox Ally.
During its release, Grounded was met with generally favorable review scores on Metacritic. Grounded 2 still has no aggregated score on Metacritic, but Steam players determined that the game deserves a “Mostly Positive” rating.
It’s worth noting that both Grounded and Grounded 2 are also available on Xbox Game Pass, which means that their player count on Steam does not tell the whole story. It will be wise to think of their Steam numbers as a baseline instead of their limit.
Grounded 2 was released on July 29, 2025. It’s a survival action-adventure game of shrunken children who have to find ways to survive in an overgrown park filled with dangerous creatures. Grounded 2 is available on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
