The Horizon franchise has sold over 38 million copies worldwide, according to a report from Eurogamer, which spotted the data in the filings related to Sony’s lawsuit against Tencent, claiming copyright infringement of the Horizon IP.

The very first title in the series, Horizon Zero Dawn, was initially released as a PlayStation 4 exclusive in 2017. That same year, the game received a DLC titled The Frozen Wilds. In 2020, the game was ported to Windows PC, becoming the first PlayStation exclusive to arrive on Microsoft Windows. The remaster of the game was released for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC on October 23, 2024.
