The game preview of the sequel to Grounded joined the first part of the franchise on Windows PC, Xbox Cloud and Xbox Series X|S for members of Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on its launch day.
Grounded 2 is co-developed by Obsidian Entertainment and Eidos-Montréal and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game allows players to assume the roles of children who have been shrunk to the size of insects and find themselves in an overgrown public park, trying to survive in cooperation with other players.
The sequel is set in Brookhollow Park, a fictional suburban park with a visual design inspired by the early 1990s. The early access version allows players to explore some parts of the expanded park environment, featuring new gameplay elements such as mounts, new weapons and additional building tools.
The first title of the franchise also began its path with early access for Windows PC and Xbox One in July 2020. It was fully released on Sept. 27, 2022, for Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, with Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions launching on April 16, 2024. As of December 2022, the game had attracted more than 15 million players.
As of the time of writing, Grounded has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with 68,305 reviews and an all-time peak of 32,012 players, according to SteamDB.
