- A committed ARK: Survival Evolved player asked for a refund after over 35,000 hour on the game.
- 35,000 hours translates to almost four entire years in the game.
- The player voiced their concerns via Steam, where they complained about the state of the game.
An ARK: Survival Evolved player asked for a refund via Steam review after having sunk over 35,000 hours on the game. This translates to just about four years spent in the game, indicating clear dedication to the game. Within the Steam review, the user voices concerns regarding the state of the game, which they claim prevents mods, and thereby much of their enjoyment of the game.
“Server doesn’t match, mods don’t work, and all of this to force us to Ark: Survival Ascended. I have that game as well, and it sucks,” they proclaimed. The issue, according to MSN, seems to be from the release of Ark Aquatica, which was advertised at the 10-year anniversary DLC for Ark: Survival Evolved.

The DLC has “Overwhelmingly Negative” reviews on Steam, with numerous reports of bugs and poor performance for the DLC. The DLC reportedly breaks mods, server settings, and configuration files across the game.
It appears the devs are aware of the issues plaguing the title, as indicated by their update blog. In the blog, they communicated that it is their top priority to fix issues with the game engine on the live version of ARK: Survival Evolved. But the issues are supposedly “complex,” thereby the solution is continuing to be developed to address mods from instantly crashing.
ARK: Survival Evolved initially released in 2015 for Steam Early Access, and is currently available for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile devices. The title sold over 76 million copies, according to WN Hub.
