Assassin’s Creed Shadows Surpasses 5M Players Ahead of First DLC Launch

Assassin’s Creed Shadows surpassed the 5-million-player mark, according to a Ubisoft report on first-quarter 2025-26 sales.
In the same document, the company indicated the time frame for the release of the game’s first DLC, Claws of Awaji, as July-September 2025.
Notably, Assassin’s Creed Shadows passed the 1-million-player mark on its launch day, March 20, 2025, reached 2 million players two days later and hit 3 million players by the end of the first week.
The game was developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft for both macOS and Windows PCs, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a version for iPadOS planned for release at a later date.
The 14th major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series and the successor to 2023’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set in 16th-century Japan and focuses on the standoff between the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templar Order through the perspectives of two protagonists: samurai Yasuke and shinobi Naoe.
As of the time of writing, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam, based on 21,134 reviews, and an all-time peak of 64,825 concurrent players, according to SteamDB, along with a Metascore of 82 based on 97 critic reviews and a user rating of 6.2 based on 3,960 user reviews.
