Indie Title The Royal Writ Releases Next Month, Published by Yogscast Games

The Royal Writ is Save Sloth Studio’s upcoming title, slated to release on Steam on Aug. 7, 2025.  Published by Yogscaste games, The Royal Writ is a single-player roguelike that uses card game mechanics. In The Royal Writ, sacrifice is essential to winning. 

The player commands cards on the battlefield; the loyal subjects that advance towards the enemy deal damage, but are permanently destroyed upon reaching the enemy base. The game utilizes strategy to create memorable sub-stories within each run, utilizing narrative to drive the experience forward. 

The Royal Writ features two campaigns, with each campaign featuring unique bosses, challenges, and cards. Here are the system requirements for the Steam title:

As of writing, the price point of the title is not available, but it is not expected to be priced at a Triple-A title price point. Save Sloth Studios is an indie Hungarian development team that likes opossums, according to the studio’s bio on Steam. The studio created The Railroad to Elsewhere, Bygones Melodies, and A Most Extraordinary Gnome, all of which use 2D art and backgrounds to drive Save Sloth Studios’ created games forward.
