- Gen.G Esports continues its League of Legends dominance after beating AG.AL at EWC 2025.
- AG.AL was able to put up a good fight, momentarily giving LPL fans hope.
- Former EWC champions T1 got third place in this tournament.
Gen.G Esports won the Esports World Cup League of Legends tournament over the LPL team AG.AL in the grand final. The series started with two wins over Gen.G’s side, answered back by two hard-fought games by AG.AL.
Game 4 in particular lasted 46 minutes, which was the longest game in the series. Both teams had to fight tooth and nail for any advantage across the map. Ultimately, the scales tipped over to AG.AL’s side, forcing a Game 5 and igniting hopes of defeating the best League of Legends team in the world.
However, not even 30 minutes into Game 5, AG.AL lost to Gen.G Esports, failing to slay the goliath of the current League of Legends landscape. Gen.G won the tournament after surgically taking AG.AL apart.
The former EWC champions, T1, were also in the tournament. They had to settle for a third-place finish after AG.AL beat them in the semifinals. Just a week before EWC 2025, T1 fought Gen.G in League of Legends’ Midseason Invitationals, where they lost 3-2.
