Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition, a remaster of Stronghold: Crusader HD, sold over 100,000 copies within 48 hours of its release on July 15, 2025, according to a celebratory announcement on X (formerly Twitter) from the game’s developer and publisher, FireFly Studios.
The title was launched only for PC via Steam at a price of $19.99, featuring an introductory 10% discount that lowers the cost to $17.99 until July 29, 2025.
This remaster of 2012’s high-definition uplift of the 2002 original Stronghold: Crusader includes both the base game and 2008’s Stronghold: Crusader Extreme, an expanded version of the base title with additional AI opponents, maps, and battles featuring over 10,000 units.
Regarding novelties, Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition features 8 new playable units, 4 new AI lords (20 in total), and several additional campaigns, including 2 new single-player historical campaigns and 4 new co-op skirmish trails titled Sands of Time.
