Roblox announced its new licensing platform, which is catered towards allowing Roblox creators to use various intellectual properties in a simplified manner, thereby skipping the usual lengthy process of negotiation with the IPs. Sega, Netflix, Lionsgate, and Kondasha are already onboard, with more IP holders planned to join in a couple of months, according to Games Industry.Biz.
Not every IP under the major publishers is being made available. Here is a list of the IPs made available thus far:
- Sega: Like a Dragon
- Netflix: Squid Game, Stranger Things
- Lionsgate: Divergent (movie), Now You See Me, Saw, Twilight
- Kodansha: Two manga titles (titles are not readily available yet)

“Long term, the Roblox License Manager will be available to all eligible IP holders and additional license types will be introduced, offering creators and IP holders greater flexibility,” Roblox stated in its official press statement, which was published by Chief Product Officer Manuel Bronstein.
Roblox creators earned $923 million on the platform in 2024, which represents a 25% increase from the prior year; creators are on track to receive over $1 billion in earnings in 2025. The company’s vision is to empower all creators to easily partner with the franchises they love and bring the franchises’ licensed IP into their experiences, according to the statement, which was published on July 15, 2025.
The global online platform and game creation system sees millions of players per day. Roblox game Grow a Garden hit a peak concurrent player of 21.3 million, setting a record for the highest mark ever in the gaming industry, according to App2Top. The figure was recorded on June 21, 2025.
