Over 7,000 Titles on Steam Officially Disclose Usage of Generative AI

Nearly 8,000 games on Steam were developed using generative AI, according to a report from Ichiro Lambe, CEO of Totally Human Media, dated July 13, 2025.
As alleged in the report, a total of 7,818 titles on Steam disclose generative AI usage in accordance with the platform’s terms of use, which were specified regarding AI implementation on January 10, 2024.
Lambe claims that this number amounts to 7% of the total Steam library, which, according to his estimates, includes 114,126 titles.
The report also highlights that approximately 20% of all titles released in 2025 on Valve’s platform have disclosed such use.
Compared to Lambe’s research on the same subject in 2024, the number of games utilizing generative AI was about 1,000, amounting to 1.1% of the total Steam game catalog at that time.
Developers and publishers use AI for the creation of visual assets, which include characters, backgrounds, 2D/3D models, textures, etc. (60% of disclosures), audio generation, text and narrative creation, marketing and promotional materials, as well as for coding and game logic development.
The most popular title that Lambe cites as an example of a project that discloses generative AI usage is Krafton’s inZOI, which was released in early access on March 28, 2025.
