- A new Guilty Gear was reportedly canceled, according to Insider Gaming.
- The sources did not explain why it was canceled.
- Guilty Gear Strive was released in 2021.
On July 14, 2025, Insider Gaming published a report saying that a Guilty Gear game has been canceled at Arc System Works. The outlet tagged that the cancellation happened within the last couple of weeks and that the sources provided no reason for its sunset.
Insider Gaming mentioned that they have reached out to the developers for comments regarding the situation. If the rumors of a new Guilty Gear game being canceled are true, this means that Guilty Gear Strive might have a couple more seasons prepared for it.
Fighting games typically last five to six years before developers release a new game, which will eventually become the focus of many competitors. This also means that there will be no new content produced for the previous fighting game, and the developers will fully focus on the new title.
Arc System Works’ biggest game in production currently is Marvel Tokon. Announced during Sony’s June State of Play, this is the first Marvel fighting game since Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite’s release in 2017. A new Marvel fighting game is one of the most requested titles in the fighting game community.
Guilty Gear Strive was released in 2021 for the PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s currently in its fourth season, with its final character, Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, being the final character in its season pass. If Guilty Gear is still following the typical lifespan of a fighting game, the title only has two more seasons left before the developers announce a new one.
