The Stop Killing Games initiative gained support from current Vice President of the European Parliament, Nicolae Ștefănuță.
The news was revealed by the initiative itself via a post on Blue Sky, with a screenshot of Ștefănuță’s Instagram story expressing support for Stop Killing Games.
The fourth independent representative in Romanian history to secure a mandate in the European Parliament, Ștefănuță stated in that Instagram story: “I stand with the people who launched this citizen initiative. I’ve signed it and will continue to support them. A game, once sold, belongs to the customer, not the company.”
Stop Killing Games was started by YouTuber Ross Scott, and as of the time of writing, the European Citizens’ Initiative by Stop Killing Games has gained 1,346,123 signatures, qualifying it for EU verification and possibly a public hearing or full debate in Parliament.
Support for the Stop Killing Games initiative comes on the heels of the EU industry lobbying body representing major video game giants, Video Games Europe, stating a week prior that the initiative’s proposals could make game development significantly more expensive if implemented.
