RimWorld received its fifth paid DLC, Odyssey, on July 11, 2025, and discounted all previous expansions and the base game.
Until July 24, 2025, the Royalty and Ideology DLCs will be 15% off, while Biotech and Anomaly will be discounted by 10%. As for the base title, its 20% discount will last for the same period.
Just like all previous paid expansions, Odyssey was launched simultaneously with a free update. Patch 1.6 reduced game launch time, reworked Scaria, revamped map generation, and introduced an improved planning system, different drawing styles for designator tools, caravan camps, changes to rooms, armor, and weapons, along with other novelties. On top of that, the game got 326 fixes, major performance optimizations, quality-of-life changes, and UI improvements.
As for the Odyssey DLC, it introduced a new gravship-building mechanic, a new landmarks system, 100-day journeys around the world, new biomes like Glowforest, over 40 new animals, a new weapon system, new gear, and multiple new quests, as reported in exquisite detail by Gaming.News earlier this summer. On top of that, the expansion is bolstered by a new album of music by Alistair Lindsay, composer of the RimWorld soundtrack.
Developed by Canadian game designer Tynan Sylvester and published by Ludeon Studios, RimWorld was initially launched on October 17, 2018, for Linux, macOS, and Windows PCs, and then ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on July 29, 2022.
As of the time of writing, the game has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam with 181,033 reviews and an all-time peak of 62,257 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
According to Gamalytic’s data, the sci-fi colony simulator has sold over 7 million copies since its release.
