Elden Ring: Nightreign Leads May 2025 Sales on All Platforms, Star Wars: Battlefront II Joins Top 20

Mat Piscatella, the executive director and video games industry analyst at Circana, released May 2025’s list of best-selling video games. Elden Ring: Nightreign has dominated game sales on all consoles, including Xbox and PlayStation.
Doom: The Dark Ages followed Elden Ring: Nightreign behind. In fact, four of the games in the top five of the chart are all from Microsoft. Interestingly, both F1 25 and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 have entered the top 20 best-selling games in May 2025.
Star Wars: Battlefront II, an action-shooter game released in 2017, has surprisingly reached 12th place in the chart. Last month, it was ranked 135th. On May 28, the game broke its highest concurrent player count seven years after it was released.
PlayStation sales paint the same story, with Elden Ring: Nightreign and Doom: The Dark Ages taking the top two spots in the chart, and four of the games being from Microsoft. Xbox’s sales charts are similar to PlayStation’s. Nintendo, on the other hand, has Capcom Fighting Collection 2 as its second-best-selling game in May. On top of it is Mario Kart 8, and in the top three is Minecraft
