Bungie made three years of Destiny 2 content available for free in preparation for the upcoming Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate DLC expansion. The free expansions made available begin with those released after 2022, including Shadowkeep ($19.99), Beyond Light ($19.99), The Witch Queen ($29.99), Lightfall ($29.99), and The Final Shape ($49.99). The prices listed are when the expansions are not on sale, and the expansions are available until July 22.
Three episodes were made free as well: Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy. These episodes set up the narrative for The Final Shape and will no longer be available when The Edge of Fate releases on July 15, 2025. Players will be allowed to keep the rewards and accessories earned through the free period.
The Final Shape was the conclusion to a decade of Destiny 2 content; The Edge of Fate is marketed as the start of a new beginning. For those already invested in Destiny 2, purchasing Destiny 2: Year of Prophecy provides a slightly discounted price by providing both upcoming campaigns: The Edge of Fate and the Renegades expansion, slated to release on Dec. 16, 2025.
This period of Destiny 2 free expansions and episodes is being implemented on all the available platforms, which include PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The title was initially released on Sept. 6, 2017, on previous generation hardware, followed by a PC release a month later. The current generation consoles received a rerelease in December 2020.
