Castle Crashers Receives New DLC After 13 Years, Allowing Players to Create Custom Characters

On July 10, 2025, Castle Crashers developers The Behemoth announced that the game is receiving a new DLC on Aug. 6, 2025. This is the first time the game has received new DLC in 13 years; the last one was on Sept. 27, 2012, when the developers added the Blacksmith to the game.
The new DLC is called the Painter Boss Paradise, and it allows players to create their custom characters to put into the game. The developers have provided a template that players can use to create the characters they want.
Additionally, it also allows players to upload their creations to the Steam Workshop. The developers encouraged players to create their characters now using the template and then immediately upload them to the workshop when the DLC becomes available.
Castle Crashers is a beat ‘em up game initially released in August 2008 for the Xbox 360. A PlayStation 3 version followed in 2010, and then it was ported to the PC two years later. Its latest version is a Switch and PlayStation 4 port released in 2019.
