Death Stranding 2 Holds Surprise Party to Celebrate Birthdays In-Game

|
- The cast in Death Stranding 2 held a surprise party to celebrate the player’s birthday in-game.
- The game asks for the player’s birthday at the start of the game.
- This has been a tradition since Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Upon logging in to Death Stranding 2: On the Beach on their birthday, players are greeted with a surprise party, complete with confetti, a piñata and even a birthday cake — albeit the cake gets knocked over by a randomly emerging statue within the cutscene.
After the cake is knocked over, Higgs Monaghan walks in carrying a pizza, followed by a Death Stranding 2 rendition of Happy Birthday.
“Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear someone,” the cast sings, while gesturing playfully. Sam Porter Bridges blows out the candles placed on top of the pizza, and the cutscene concludes.
To access the cutscene, players must have unlocked it upon reaching Chapter 3 and gaining access to the DHV Magellan.
According to SynthPotato, the game asks for the player’s birthday at the start of the game, specifically to hold the surprise birthday party.
This birthday celebration is reportedly a tradition in Hideo Kojima’s games, having begun in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach was officially released on June 26, 2025. Set primarily in Australia, 11 months after the events of Death Stranding, in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by otherworldly creatures, the story follows Sam Bridges, a freelance porter, as he and his companions set out on an expedition across the Australian continent to connect isolated survivors and colonies to the wireless communications “chiral” network in order to save humanity from extinction.
