Key points
  1. Fortnite has announced that an unnamed cheater they took to court has ignored the lawsuit.
  2. This resulted in the game’s company winning the case and the cheater being ordered to pay $150,000.
  3. The developers have been vocal about their distaste for cheating.

The official competitive channel of Fortnite announced that the unnamed cheater they previously took to court has been ordered to pay $175,000 after ignoring their lawsuit. The account also added that they have banned the person from playing Fortnite forever.

The lawsuit was filed on Dec. 19, 2024, according to a post in the account. They explained that the player had used cheating software and hardware, as well as multiple accounts, to avoid detection. However, this did not work, and the developers were still able to track them down. They ended the announcement by saying that cheating has no place in Fortnite and that they will do anything they can to stop it, even if it ends up in a legal battle.

Fortnite has always been outspoken in its distaste regarding cheating. A few weeks ago, Epic Games announced that it had filed a lawsuit against Sincey Cheats and Vanta Cheats. Both are the same person and a cheat developer. In February, Epic Games also forced a competitive Fortnite player, RepulseGod, to film an apology video and pay a settlement fee after finding out the player had cheated.

Regarding the game’s competitive scene, the developers recently announced that they are banning three items in their tournaments: Bass Boost Gloves, Krypto Treats and Tracking Visor. While banned in tournaments, these items are still available to use in Ranked mode.
