Team Vitality Wins Counter-Strike 2 Austin Major 2025, Continues Unstoppable Reign

Team Vitality won Counter-Strike 2’s Austin Major 2025 over The MongolZ to continue its reign in the Counter-Strike 2 world. Since February of this year, every tournament the team has attended has ended with them winning it. The team also had a 30-game win streak that Legacy broke in the same event.

This roster is undeniably the best Counter-Strike 2 team in existence. Despite losing the win streak they started in February, Team Vitality bounced back and qualified for the playoffs with a 3-1 record in Stage 3 of the Major.

Then, they faced Natus Vincere, commonly known as NAVI, in the quarterfinals. They swept them 2-0. Next in line was one of the teams widely considered to be close to Vitality’s power, MOUZ.

The score in that match was 2-1, but both teams traded blows until the end. Vitality won maps 1 and 3 without letting MOUZ reach double digits in round wins. MOUZ did the same, decimating Vitality in map 2 and only giving the eventual champions four rounds before closing out the map. Vitality’s win against MOUZ let them sit pretty at the grand final, waiting for who they were going to face.

The MongolZ has been a team to be reckoned with lately. They barely qualified for the playoffs with a 3-2 record in Stage 3, but they showed that they deserve to be in the stage. Their first opponent was the crowd favorite FaZe Clan, which featured Oleksandr “S1mple” Kostyljev’s return to the main stage after a year and a half.

However, The MongolZ had to end S1mple’s run early as the team defeated FaZe Clan with a 2-0 record and proceeded to sweep the next team they fought, PaiN Gaming, the same way. This win set up a showdown with Team Vitality in the grand final.

With the crowd behind them, The MongolZ took the first map in the grand final, but eventually succumbed to Team Vitality’s stronger individual players and team cohesion. The grand final ended with a 2-1 score and Team Vitality taking the Austin Major 2025 trophy.

Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut was crowned MVP, his seventh straight. He has become the player with the most MVP awards, with 27 medals in his cabinet. The person in second place is S1mple with 21 MVP medals.

In an interview with HLTV, ZywOo mentioned that the team is not stopping despite receiving their seventh trophy. Counter-Strike 2’s next big tournament is Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2025, and Team Vitality will be there, together with all the teams who are in the playoffs of the Austin Major 2025.
