Rematch, an online co-op football simulator, launched on July 19, 2025, reached a peak of 92,841 concurrent players on Steam in the first 24 hours after release, according to SteamDB.
Developed by Sloclap and co-published by Kepler Interactive, in addition to Windows PCs, the game also landed on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; however, it’s missing cross-platform support. On top of that, Rematch became available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox PC Game Pass subscription plan members on its launch day.
The title allows one player to control a single athlete on a team in football 3v3, 4v4 and 5v5 matches from a third-person perspective. During the game, each footballer switches among the roles of attacker, defender and goalkeeper. Rematch is set in closed virtual reality arenas, with no fouls, no offsides or any breaks in play.
On July 19, 2025, Sloclap shared via a post on Steam that its immediate focus will be on polishing the game, improving stability and enhancing online performance. In the near future, the developer also outlined intentions to deliver improved sliding tackles and tweaks to goalkeeper mechanics, the dribbling system and wall contacts. Besides improvements to core gameplay, Sloclap is also currently working on competitive features such as a tournament system, a leaderboard system for players above the Elite ranking and a club creation system.
On top of that, Rematch’s developer is planning to release an offline mode with AI-controlled teammates in 2026.
