On June 16, Sloclap, the developers of Rematch, published a post on X revealing that the game will not have crossplay at launch. The developers added that the feature is one of their priorities, but they still don’t have an estimated time as to when it will come to the game.
The loss of crossplay in a multiplayer-centric game like Rematch is a huge blow to its user experience. Not being able to play with friends from other consoles can be a reason why players might think twice before purchasing the game.
In fact, this is already happening, as people in the replies of the original post are saying that they have canceled their pre-orders due to the game missing crossplay. Despite this, Rematch is still seeing success on Steam.
The game was released in early access yesterday and has already reached 42,925 concurrent players on Steam. Rematch is also going to be available on the Game Pass upon release, which will boost the game’s player count.
Rematch is coming out on June 19, 2025, for the PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. It’s a 3-vs-3 football game, where players have to cooperate with two other players to score goals.
