Nintendo fans on Reddit have started compiling a master list of Switch games’ performance on the Switch 2. They’re taking notes on whether games run better, how many frames per second players are getting and other notable changes.
Games such as AI: The Somnium Files and Animal Crossing: New Horizons have shown improvements. The former is reportedly performing at a stable 60fps in handheld mode. The Animal Crossing game, on the other hand, has better loading times.
Some professional Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players have also noted that the game performs a lot better on the Switch 2. For example, alternate costumes of characters load instantly, and the loading times are also significantly better. The costumes take a few seconds to load on the first Switch.
While most of the games have improved, there are some that are suffering for some reason. Batman: Arkham Knight on the Switch 2 has been reported to have random game freezes during gameplay. Portal 2, on the other hand, allegedly crashes, according to the experience of some players in the thread.
The Nintendo Switch 2 was released on June 5, 2025. The console is now available for purchase in most countries, and it seems that most Switch 1 games should show improvements on the new console. Earlier this month, Nintendo reported that it had sold more than 3.5 million units in four days, making it the fastest-selling Nintendo console.
