Sony Removes Steam Region Locks on AAA PlayStation Titles

|
- Sony has removed the region lock for Steam on numerous AAA PlayStation titles.
- The list of games includes God of War Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2, Helldivers 2, and more.
- The news follows Stellar Blade’s success on Steam.
Sony removed region locks for many PlayStation titles ported to Steam; the news was discovered on June 13 when users began noticing PlayStation titles being sold on Steam in regions that could not create a PSN account – DTF user Omirgali Kanapia was one of the first to notice the change.
According to an online post, the following games have started selling in previously unavailable regions:
- Helldivers 2
- God of War Ragnarok
- Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- The Last of Us Part II Remastered Days Gone — Broken Road DLC
As of June 13, 2025, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition, Until Dawn, Ghost of Tsuhima, and LEGO Horizon Adventures have not been freed from their regional restrictions. The reasoning for this remains unclear.
Sony’s region locking was introduced in May of 2024 during Helldivers 2’s heyday, thereby restricting access to the extractor shooter in over 100 regions around the world.
The region lock removal had supposedly been implemented a day after Stellar Blade’s release, a game that has cemented itself as the most successful PC port of a PlayStation title in recent years.
The title outperformed all other games that have been ported to the platform, averaging a perfect five-star rating from 6,656 players and achieving 40,564 concurrent players on Steam.
