Devil May Cry 5 has reached more than 10 million copies sold worldwide, according to a press release published by Capcom on June 13. According to Capcom, the Netflix animated adaptation of Devil May Cry has helped significantly in reaching the sales milestone.
The press release praised the animated adaptation for staying in the top 10 Netflix shows for a week in Japan, as well as ranking fourth during its first day of release. Capcom’s last sales report for Devil May Cry 5 was released in March 2025.
At that time, the game’s sales were only 9.1 million, which means that the game had sold around 900,000 copies in a month or two to be able to pass the 10 million sales milestone. The Devil May Cry Netflix adaptation was released on April 3, 2025.
Capcom has also noted that as of March 2025, the Devil May Cry franchise has sold 33 million copies cumulatively since its first release in 2001. They even put the game’s genre as “Stylish Action” and believe that it’s one of the reasons why gamers flock to the franchise.
Devil May Cry 5 was initially released on March 8, 2019, for the PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One. An Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 version called the Special Edition followed the next year.
