Stellar Blade’s PC release is proving to be successful, as the game reached an all-time peak of 99,980 concurrent players on Steam, according to SteamDB. The game was released on June 12, which means that it’s been out for less than a day on PC.
The game’s release wasn’t free of problems. Upon announcement, the developers found out that the game’s PC release was going to be restricted in 129 countries. Having learned about the issue, Shift-Up made an announcement saying that it is discussing the region lock issue with the publisher and hoping for it to be resolved as soon as possible.
Additionally, the announcement addressed a few problems, such as Digital Rights Management, also known as DRM, being in the game. According to the developers, the DRM has been adjusted to “maintain the same average frame rate.” DRMs are known to cause problems with game performance, especially frame drops.
By May 31, various X accounts posted that Stellar Blade’s region lock had been removed on both the Epic Games Store and Steam, essentially solving the problem.
Stellar Blade was initially released on April 26, 2024, as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Its gameplay is similar to Souls games, with difficult bosses and an action-oriented focus. It received favorable reviews from critics, according to Metacritic.
