Microsoft is giving away free codes of Gears of War: Reloaded to gamers who already own Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. The Verge senior editor Tom Warren first spotted this, telling gamers to check their Xbox messages for the code.
“As a thank you for being a Gears fan, we’re offering owners of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (digital) a free code for Gears of War: Reloaded, playable on Xbox Series X|S and PC.” It’s unclear whether those who own the game physically will also receive a free code.
Gears of War: Reloaded is the second remaster of the first Gears of War game. The developers have highlighted that the game is playable in 4K resolution at 60fps. Additionally, it will also support 120fps in multiplayer modes.
The developers also mentioned that all post-launch content added in the release of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be present in Gears of War: Reloaded. The former is the first remaster of the original Gears of War game.
Gears of War: Reloaded is coming out on Aug. 26, 2025, for the Xbox Series X|S, PC and PlayStation 5. This will be the first time the game will be available on a PlayStation console.
