Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of the 2004 game Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which was the first chronological game overall and the fifth main entry in the Metal Gear franchise.
The game is scheduled to release for PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X|S on Aug. 28, 2025
Set in 1964, 31 years before the events of the original 1987 Metal Gear, the story of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater follows FOX operative Naked Snake on his attempt to rescue Russian rocket scientist Nikolai Stepanovich Sokolov, sabotage an experimental superweapon, and assassinate his former boss.
As of September 2024, the Metal Gear series has sold over 62.1 million copies worldwide.
Notably, the franchise features a revolutionary fourth-wall-breaking mechanic for its time. In Metal Gear Solid 2, to win a boss fight against Psycho Mantis, where the character “reads” the player’s mind and ignores all attacks, players should change the controller port and continue the fight in order to cause damage to the villain.
