Epic Games has sued an individual who developed wall-hack and auto-aim cheats for Fortnite players. The company also notes that it is reaching out to individuals who assisted with the distribution of the software.
According to Polygon, the lawsuit was filed in North Carolina, where Epic Games is headquartered. It also named Ediz Atas, also known as Sincey Cheats and Vanta Cheats, as the alleged cheat developer.
Additionally, the lawsuit alleges that Sincey Cheats sent “multiple emails to YouTube’s designated copyright agent impersonating an Epic employee and falsely claiming that Epic wanted to ‘formally reverse [its] claim of copyright infringement’” by using fake Epic Games email addresses.
Epic Games also alleges in its lawsuit that it has banned tens of thousands of Fortnite accounts for using cheats created by Sincey Cheats since February 2022. The company is also going after five unidentified individuals accused of selling Sincey Cheats and Vanta Cheats across websites, Discord servers, and Telegram channels.
This isn’t Epic Games’ first rodeo when it comes to fighting cheating in Fortnite. In 2022, Epic took a Fortnite player to court in Australia and asked them to pay for damages. In addition to that, earlier this year, they also took the winnings of RepulseGod after they found out he had cheated his way to qualify for the FNCS 2023 Global Championship.
