Following backlash from players, MindsEye’s developer, Build a Rocket Boy, has announced via the game’s subreddit that its engineering team is working around the clock to deliver a performance update and promised to provide the timing on the patch within the next 24 hours.
Published by IO Interactive, the game was released on June 10, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X|S, featuring numerous issues, including hilariously stretched character models, glitches, stuttering, poorly functioning NPC AI and melting faces, highlighted by Eurogamer.
Notably, some of the game’s developing company executives departed Build a Rocket Boy a week ahead of MindsEye’s launch, as was reported by Gaming.News. Besides that, Build A Rocket Boy’s co-CEO blamed early negative feedback surrounding the studio’s debut title on a “concerted effort” to discredit the game about a week before MindsEye’s release.
As of the time of writing, the game has a “Mixed” rating on Steam with 859 reviews and a peak of 3,302 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
MindsEye is a linear action-adventure game, playable from a third-person perspective, in which players follow the story of Jacob Diaz, a former soldier with a MindsEye neural implant whose secrets he aims to uncover.
