In the game, players take on the role of a mounted monarch who must build the kingdom from scratch and defend it from a Greed monster race. Kingdom Two Crowns is split into day-night cycles, where exploring and building tasks can be handled during the day, while nighttime is for fighting enemies.
Originally designed as an expansion pack for 2016’s Kingdom: New Lands, this 2D resource management strategy game features single-player and cooperative multiplayer modes that work via a split screen.
The third entry in the Kingdom series was developed by Thomas van den Berg and Coatsink and published by Raw Fury on Dec. 11, 2018, for Windows and macOS PCs, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, and then for both iOS and Android smartphones on April 28, 2020.
As of the time of writing, Kingdom Two Crowns featured a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with 25,982 reviews and an all-time peak of 26,623 concurrent players, according to SteamDB. As of mid-2019, the Kingdom franchise had sold over 4 million copies globally.
