Epic Games Store Makes Award-Winning Video Game Free Until Tomorrow

|
- Deathloop is free on the Epic Games Store until June 12.
- It’s an award-winning game, bagging accolades from The Game Awards and the Golden Joystick Awards.
- Ogu and the Secret Forest is also free on the Epic Games Store.
The Epic Games Store has temporarily removed the price tag for Deathloop, an award-winning game from Arkane Lyon and published by Bethesda Softworks. Deathloop won “Best Game Direction” and “Best Art Direction” at The Game Awards 2021.
It has also won various awards from other shows, including the Golden Joystick Awards 2021, the 25th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards and the Pégasus Awards. Most critics have given it a high score, and it even landed as some outlets’ game of the year in 2021.
Deathloop puts the player in the shoes of an assassin trapped in a time loop that can only be broken after he eliminates eight targets before midnight. If he doesn’t, the time loop begins once more, putting him back to where he started. According to the game’s director, Dinga Bakaba, the game plays like an “inverted Cluedo.”
The game was initially released on Sept. 14, 2021, for the PlayStation 5 and PC. An Xbox Series X|S version followed the next year on Sept. 20, 2022. Aside from Deathloop, the Epic Games Store has given the same price treatment to Ogu and the Secret Forest, an indie game from Moonlab Studio that’s reminiscent of the early top-down Legend of Zelda games.
