Lars Wingefors, CEO of the Embracer Group, is stepping down from his position and will be replaced by Phil Rogers. Wingefors was appointed as Embracer’s executive chair of the board during the annual general meeting on Sept. 18, 2025.
The Embracer Group has released a press release commenting on Wingefors. According to him, his new position will allow him to focus on strategic initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, and capital allocation. Additionally, he also praised Rogers and said that he has high confidence in his abilities.
Rogers’ appointment to CEO will be effective as of Aug. 1, 2025. Wingefors will then step down the same day and will not be part of the executive management team until the annual general meeting in September.
Wingefors oversaw the company during its acquisition spree and subsequent massive layoffs. The company previously stated that its number one priority is to maximize shareholder value, a statement it made after laying off more than 4,500 employees.
In May of this year, the company announced that it plans to rename itself as Fellowship Entertainment and will go forward with its plans to split into three separate companies: Asmodee, Coffee Stain & Friends and Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends.
