Brazilian team MIBR sent Team Falcons home after the latter’s disastrous CS2 Major appearance. Team Falcons was one of the favorites to win the whole major but showed weakness as they faltered during stage 2’s best-of-one opening format.
Team Falcons lost to B8 and Lynn Vision Gaming in the first and second rounds of stage 2, putting it at a disadvantage. Starting from the third round, all games will be played in a best-of-three format, allowing teams to adjust their game plans as the series progresses.
This worked out in Team Falcons’ favor as they lost the first map against OG, their round three opponent, but were able to pick themselves up and win the next two maps to avoid being eliminated from the tournament.
Round four was where Team Falcons’ dreams of a grand final appearance at the major were crushed, as they lost 2-1 against MIBR. A couple of misplays in the last map caught the team slipping, allowing MIBR to go to triple overtime. After this, the Falcons looked defeated, eventually leading to their loss.
The Counter-Strike 2 BLAST.tv Austin Major is still ongoing. Round four will see FaZe Clan, B8, Nemiga Gaming, Lynn Vision Gaming, MIBR and Heroic duke it out to see which three teams will make it to stage 3.
