LoL ARAM Upcoming Update to Add Champion Cards and New Maps

- Champion cards replace rerolls in ARAM.
- Three new maps cycle for ARAM starting June ___
- Each map has slight variations, catered towards making the game feel fresh and exciting.
Detailed in their developer vlog alongside a written news update, Riot Games is revamping ARAM in League of Legends. The changes include the removal of rerolls, supplementing the rerolls with Champion Cards instead. In addition, ARAM will feature three random maps, instead of the single howling abyss. The update is slated to speculated to release on June 25, according to a League of Legends unofficial news outlet.
Upon entering champion select, summoners receive two champion cards. The unused champion card is sent to the bench, which becomes selectable by other players. This change is catered towards making the available champions consistent across games.
As for the three new maps, each map features exclusive gameplay mechanics. The Spirit Blossom map has a portal at the center of the map, allowing players to teleport from one side of the lane to the other.
The Butcher’s Bridge returns – a map that was featured many years ago in the original ARAM game mode. This map features cannons from URF and Power Flowers, a mechanic taken from Arena Mode. These Power Flowers are weaker than their Arena Mode iteration, providing a slight refund on cooldowns rather than health. Howling Abyss, the third map, remains untouched.
The new maps are temporary for now. Riot stated that if the player feedback is positive enough, the changes will become permanent. This is a policy Riot Games practices for many of their League of Legends updates.
