The Outer Worlds 2 is set to be released at a price of $80 for the Standard Edition and $100 for the Premium Edition, which includes early access and a DLC pass, according to the official Xbox Store listings.
Earlier this year, Gaming.News reported that, besides games, Xbox consoles and controllers also will see worldwide price growth, with the base Xbox Series X going to $599.99 from $499.99, and the base Series S model seeing an $80 increase to $429.99.
Developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios, The Outer Worlds 2 is a standalone sequel to 2019’s The Outer Worlds, slated for release on Oct. 29, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
In The Outer Worlds 2, players will follow an Earth Directorate agent who is tasked with uncovering the source of emerging rifts that threaten to destroy the colony amid clashing factions of the Protectorate’s militarized utopians, corporate cultists dedicated to Auntie’s Choice and prophetic scientists from the Order of the Ascendant in the Arcadia star system.
Just like in the first title, in The Outer Worlds 2, players will be able to assemble a team. Six people — Niles, Inez, Aza, Marisol, Tristen and Valerie — will join the protagonist, each with their own skillset.
As of the time of writing, the initial title in The Outer Worlds series features a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with 22,329 reviews and an all-time peak of 20,349 concurrent players, according to SteamDB. The game has won six industry awards across multiple categories and sold over 5 million copies worldwide across all platforms.
