Nintendo Switch 2 sales started on June 5, 2025, at the initial price of $449.99, which was set during the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 livestream on April 4, 2025.
Despite all the disturbances caused by Trump’s tariffs, the new console from Nintendo is coming to the US at the original price. Notably, while the Nintendo Switch 2’s price remains unchanged, as does the $499.99 price of the bundle, which includes the console and the Mario Kart World game, the cost of all accessories for the Switch 2 has risen, reflecting an effort to evaluate the potential impact of tariffs.
Mario Kart World, Split Fiction, Hitman: World of Assassination Signature Edition, Cyberpunk 2077 and Civilization VII are coming as launch titles for Nintendo Switch 2, as well as Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom with improved graphics, framerate and smartphone navigation.
Mario Kart World is coming exclusively to the second generation of Switch consoles, priced at $79.99 (digital copy), $20 more than the standard price for games on the original Nintendo Switch. A physical copy of the game will cost $90. Meanwhile, the upcoming Donkey Kong Bananza is being priced at $70, which seems to suggest that Nintendo will continue to set prices on a game-by-game basis.
The new Switch features the C-button, which is designed specifically for navigating GameChat, Nintendo’s analog of Discord that allows a group of up to 12 people to chat and share screens during collaborative play. Notably, the standalone Nintendo Switch 2 Camera, which integrates with GameChat, comes at a cost of $54.99, while it was originally priced at $49.99.
Nintendo Switch 2 has a 7.9-inch LCD touchscreen display with a 1920 × 1080 resolution that can support up to 120fps and offers a Variable Refresh Rate up to 120 Hz.
Switch 2 features 256GB of internal storage, which is eight times the capacity of the original Nintendo Switch, and, on top of that, the new console is compatible with microSD Express cards up to 2 TB. The device’s battery is 5220 mAh and can run approximately 2-6.5 hours from one charge, depending on the game being played.
Besides that, the new Nintendo console is powered by a custom CPU and GPU made by Nvidia, featuring RT Cores and Tensor Cores with more raw power, offering faster load times, smoother gameplay and more detailed graphics thanks to DLSS support.
Switch 2 has two USB-C ports. The port on the bottom can be used to charge the console and connect to the Nintendo Switch 2 dock, while the port on the top can be used to connect accessories and/or charge the console. Also, Switch 2 has a 3.5 mm audio jack.
The Joy-Con controllers of the new Switch connect magnetically, and both can function as a mouse with full mouse control support.
