Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak exceeded 10 million copies sold, according to the official announcement from the game’s developer and publisher, Capcom.
Monster Hunter Rise was initially released for the Nintendo Switch in 2021, then ported to PC in 2022, and in 2023 to PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The major paid expansion, Sunbreak, was released in June 2022. It was centered on a new monster, the Elder Dragon Malzeno, but in addition, Sunbreak brought back monsters from previous iterations of the series, along with a new hub area, quests, weapons, armor, hunting areas, and more difficult Master Rank hunts.
According to Capcom’s data as of March 31, 2025, the base Monster Hunter Rise game has sold over 17.1 million copies globally since its release in March 2021.
As of the time of writing, Monster Hunter Rise is the second best-selling title in the series, behind only Monster Hunter: World which has sold 21.50 since its launch in 2018.
“The news comes on the heels of Capcom revealing that Monster Hunter Wilds and the Resident Evil series have brought the company a record-breaking eighth consecutive year of profits.
