No Man’s Sky Switch 2 Edition provides numerous quality of life upgrades from the Switch 1 version. The upcoming port provides cross-save and cross-platform multiplayer, a feature that was lacking in the original Switch 1 iteration of the title. The resolution and frame rates were improved for both TV and handheld modes.
In addition, all iterations of the game received an update on June 4, 2025; the update is called BEACON. The BEACON 5.7 update overhauls planetary settlements, which includes huge new Autophage towns.
“BEACON completely overhauls settlements, bringing towns and their management to No Man’s Sky. There are huge new robotic settlements to discover, with impossibly new sci-fi buildings,” the official update reads. The full patch notes are available on the official No Man’s Sky website.
No Man’s Sky is a science fiction exploration survival game that initially released on Xbox One on August 9, 2016. The title was later ported for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The original Nintendo Switch version did not support multiplayer; the port had limited draw distance and frame rate fluctuations. The Switch 2 edition is marketed to be a free improved version of the game for the upcoming console.
