During PlayStation State of Play, IO Interactive unveiled their upcoming James Bond action-adventure game: 007 First Light. The game is slated to release in 2026 for PlayStation 5, and showcases Bond at the youngest fans have ever met him, according to the official PlayStation store listing of the upcoming game.
“In 007 First Light, at only 26 years old, he isn’t the fully fledged 007 you know from the tux-and-martini days but a man with sharp instincts, sometimes reckless, who is still learning when to fight, when to bluff, and when to disappear into the shadows,” the listing reads.
007 First Light was first announced in 2020 as Project 007; very little else was revealed regarding the title until the trailer was revealed on June 4, 2025. In the trailer, the viewer learns that James Bond witnessed his parents’ deaths – an act of courage that saved the young boy’s life.
The title will be enhanced for the PlayStation 5 Pro. Sony claims they will be using PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which should allow the game to be playable at 60 FPS in Quality mode.
IO Interactive developed the Hitman series. Hitman 2 won the Global Game Awards’ Best Stealth Game of the Year award, while receiving numerous nominations for other categories. The title reportedly sold between 200,000 and 250,000 copies within the first ten days of release.
